High ankle sprains are otherwise known as syndesmosis injuries. They account for up to 15% of all ankle sprain presentations, but in some cases can lead to long-term ankle problems. Here we explain the different ligaments involved in a high ankle sprain, as opposed to the ligaments involved in the more common low ankle sprain.
